Vice Lord-Lieutenant
The Vice Lord-Lieutenant is Mrs Kathy Sambrook OBE DL. Her appointment was announced in the London Gazette in September 2025.
As Vice Lord-Lieutenant, she supports the Lord-Lieutenant and attends many community and civic functions on his behalf.
Personal profile
Kathy was a founding member and is currently President of Friends of Sussex Hospices which she chaired from 2001 until 2021. She has also been a trustee for Martlets Hospice, Sussex Community Foundation, and The Sussex Beacon.
She was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant in 2006 and served as High Sheriff from 2011 to 2012.
Kathy received an OBE in 2015 for services to charity and the community, particularly to hospice care. She is passionate about supporting hospice care and has completed seven marathons and walked the 200 mile Sussex Hospice Trail to raise funds for Sussex hospices.
She previously worked in London for a US investment bank. Kathy lives in Framfield with her husband Geoffrey, a retired London Metals Exchange trader. She enjoys walking – particularly on the downs – opera, and spending time with family and friends.
