Last year Peter Finnigan was diagnosed with throat cancer. He now has the all clear. He wants to raise funds for the first year running costs of the new £6m Macmillan Cancer Support Centre currently under construction in Brighton.
He has organised a trek across the Jordanian desert in October. The idea is to follow old Bedouin trading routes and arrive at the lost city of Petra the way one might have done 3,000 years ago.
The group will be walking up to eight hours a day in high temperatures and across rough terrain. He hopes that the trek will raise a minimum of £50,000 which will be used towards the first year running costs of the new Cancer support centre.
As Patron of the new Cancer Centre Appeal the Lord Lieutenant is more than happy to give his support to this rather unique venture, and wishes him and his colleagues all the best in their endeavours.
Peter has ten fellow trekkers joining him so far and he is keen to find more.
